Our kitchen has gone from 'hellhole' to Hollywood thanks to Amethyst Kitchens!

When we first contacted Amethyst for a discussion and design, we soon realised the cost of a new kitchen was more than we'd anticipated. We decided to go to a high street store instead, as we believed they would be cheaper, especially as they had a 50% off sale at the time. We were proved wrong! The high street store was charging the same price as Amethyst Kitchens. Yet Amethyst Kitchens offered a much more sophisticated design (incorporating more symmetry, storage space, attention to detail, and luxury quartz worktops and splashbacks).

Alun (project manager) was so supportive in the design phase. He came for home visits bringing catalogues, samples of worktops and cupboard doors into our sitting room. He helped us choose a beautiful worktop and even came with us to our local flooring shop to help us choose the new floor. Whenever we felt indecisive or experienced a 'niggle' he would offer a phone call or an evening video call to talk things through / explore options / tweak the design / answer any queries / resolve anything we felt uncertain about. Alun is supportive, patient, reassuring, caring, and respectful of personal tastes and budget. We never felt pressured, only supported. Alun stayed in touch, overseeing everything, until the kitchen was completed.

Before the work started, Alun introduced us to Alan (kitchen fitter) during a home visit / site survey. We talked everything through, and that felt very reassuring. Alan and his son Craig (kitchen fitters) were absolutely brilliant and are lovely people (the whole Amethyst team are lovely). Every day they turned up exactly on time without fail. They protected our sitting room floor with wooden sheets, protected our carpets, hoovered, and were very respectful of our home. At the end of each day, they cleared the space. Alan and Craig were great at keeping us updated on every detail, and they were a pleasure to have in our home. We felt like we were in excellent hands during the whole process, and a WhatsApp group was created so we could all communicate with each other.

The kitchen itself is beyond expectations - it is outstanding and luxurious and the space looks so much bigger. The level of detail in the design and workmanship is fantastic. Alan and Craig were proactive in suggesting and carrying out extra unexpected perks. For example, fitting an outside light, a power socket, and a new water tap for our garden patio area; and hiding electrical switches and panels inside kitchen cupboards. They even tailored the inside of our utility cupboard - creating bespoke shelving, hooks, and clips to secure our ironing board, mop, step ladder, clothes horses, and shoes. This is the level of additional tailored detail that we would not have got from the high street store.

The electrician and plasterer are part of the same team, which means everything went smoothly and seamlessly, with great communication, and all work carried out to very high standards and absolutely on time. Alan showed us how to clean and care for our new kitchen and suggested new cookware that would be compatible with our new electric hob.
